Topic: Positioning yourself aright
Bible Passage: Genesis 47: 7-12
“Then Joseph
settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of
Ramses as Pharaoh has commanded” (v.11)
The Israelite's were in the land of their sojourning, the
land of Egypt. Considering the place they were coming from their stay in Egypt
was temporary. They were more of exiles in Egypt. The same is true of believers
in Christ, we all came from God by birth through womb of our mothers. We came
into the land of exiles. A temporary dwelling place and since that is the case,
we must be prepares to go back to the land where we are coming from, when the
fullness of time comes.
To the Christians, the earth is our temporary place,
heaven is our eternal home, “beloved I
beseech you as aliens an exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh that
wage war against your soul. Maintain good conduct among the gentiles, so that
in case they speak against you as wrong doers, they may see your good deeds and
glorify God on the day of visitation” (1Pet.
2:11-12).
As people, aliens to this world where we live we must
abstain from sinful passions. Let us live the life of righteousness and
holiness. Let us control our words and deeds in the fear of God knowing that a
day, our activities will be judged. Let it be that we shall not be condemned.
From our passage you will know that Joseph settled his
father, his brothers and gave them portions in Egypt, though they were all
strangers that should have nothing. They lived in the best place of the land
and were given possessions.
Likewise, the faithful followers of Jesus will not be in
want on the earth. You shall possess your possession. Christ died so as to
bring salvation to us. (Acts 3:26). Sometimes we may have needs but remember
that the promise of God is that He shall supply our needs. God will always
provide for us, (Heb.13:5b). In this world, He will make all that we do in this
world according to his will to prosper in our hands.
Notice from our passage that the Israelite's were
positioned in the land of Goshen, the region of Remises “…and gave them possessions in
land Remises…”
As long as we position ourselves where God wants us to
be, we shall not lack anything, hence we must be positioned in Christ and must
be guided, for other position we should occupy on earth. When that is the case,
we shall surely flourish (prosper) in this life, the psalmist say: “Those that are planted in the house of the
Lord shall flourish in the court of our God” (Psalm 92:13).
Action: Allow
God to locate you where your allocation will come to you.
Prayer Points
1.
God help us to live on this earth like exiles,
Lord may I not miss heaven after my journey on earth.
2.
Oh God, let this place of my divine position
bring my blessings.
3.
Oh Lord my God, I shall flourish in your court,
please manifest it Lord
