Topic: Security in the name of the Lord
Bible Passage: Proverbs 18:7-12
“The name of the Lord
is a strong tower the righteousness run into it and is safe” (v.
10)
There is something about the name of the Lord God that is
powerful and protective enough to offer security to anyone. The Bible plainly
describes the name of the Lord as a strong tower that bears safety. We must
also understand that while the promise of security remains, there are some
things you must do so as to key into the security already made available.
The first, it must be stated clearly that it is the
righteous that runs into it and are safe. It is not our human righteousness
which is described as filthy rags but the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus
which comes by faith in Him (Phil. 3:9). It is a kind of life inspired by God
through His Holy Spirit to those who trust in Him and have yielded their lives
totally to him.
On the idea of running into the tower, it has to do with
seeing yourself as under the divine protection of God. Believe that’s as a righteous
person you are already under His protection. However, this is not enough you
are also expected to confess it as often as possible, reminding God that you
are under His tower of safety. Again, learn to dwell regularly at the secret
place of the Lord so as the secret place of the Lord so as to abide under the
shadow of protection (Psalm 91:1). This is a place of regular prayer and
fellowship with the Lord.
It is also possible for persons already under the tower of
God’s protection to walk out of the tower. Under such condition the tower is no
more covering the person as the person gets exposed to different kinds of
security risk. This is the case in which the righteous begins to live in
deliberate sin. He or She may be covering up the secret sin without knowing
that one of the implications of a sin is walking out of Gods protection. He
that breaks the hedge (divine protection or strong tower), the serpent will
bite (Ecclesiastes 10:8).
Another condition is a case where doubt or unbelief arises
as regards God’s divine protection: such a doubt may be caused by pressure arising
from difficult challenges of life.
There is therefore the need to maintain the lie of integrity
and our good relationship with God trusting him in all circumstances. This will
enable us to continue to live under the protective strong tower of the almighty
God.
Action: Whatever
may be the case your security is in the name of the most high God.
Prayer Points
1. I
praise you Oh God Almighty for making Your name available for my protection.
2. Help
me Oh God to continue to live under pour divine protective name.
3. May
the difficult challenges of life never make me abandon You, please draw me
nearer to Yourself always.
